Best Martial Arts Academy:

Victoria Karate Academy

Since March 2000, when Victoria Karate Academy opened, the school has been making learning karate a fun and family experience.

"We don't just demand respect. We teach with respect to get respect back," said Dawn Kabela, the owner.

The academy was voted best martial arts academy in the area.

She said all of the instructors at the academy are world champions. A couple of the instructors are also actors, like Mike Chat, who has played in several movies, including "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue" as the Blue Power Ranger.

Kabela said some parents train with their children at the academy.

"We're real motivational and high energy," she said. "I'd have to say we are the best."
