Jaguars stay alive in AII tournament

LYNN, Mass. - After giving up four runs in the first two innings against Lindenwood-Belleville, the Jaguars didn't allow another run while plating 10 of their own en route to a 10-4 win Saturday in the Association of Independent Institutions tournament.
Dylan Blaha's solo home run in the top of the fifth inning cut UHV's deficit to 4-3, and in the seventh, following a triple by Ryan Suescun, Joshua Boothe drove in Suescun on a squeeze bunt to tie the game.
With a 4-4 tied score, the Jaguars exploded for six runs in the eighth inning, including a pair of doubles by Blaha and Kyle Bludau that drove in a combined five runs.
Cory Carter got the win for UHV, pitching four innings of relief work for starter Nathan Falkenstine. Falkenstine pitched the first three innings and gave up four runs on seven hits and three strikeouts. Carter didn't allow any runs and just one hit. Andre Del Bosque closed out the game for the Jaguars, allowing two hits and striking out one.
Blaha finished the game 3 for 5 with three RBI, and Bludau was 1 for 3 with three RBI.
UHV (21-30) will return to action Sunday at noon and will face Cal-State San Marcos.
