May 3, 2014 at 12:03 a.m.

The Victoria school district's You Make a Difference Award was presented to the Victoria Adult Literacy Council for its efforts to provide a second chance at education for many Victorians. The council is partnering with F.W. Gross Elementary School this year to offer on-site classes for residents in the area. As many as 20 adults attend the classes to earn a GED, improve reading skills or improve their language skills. The council also offers extensive opportunities in the community for family literacy.
