Victoria police: Woman accidentally shot at car wash
A woman was accidentally shot at a carwash in the 1800 block of Delmar Drive on Monday afternoon.
The 21-year-old woman had a gunshot wound to her arm and was taken by private vehicle to Citizens Medical Center, where Victoria police were called at 1:29 p.m., said Detective Tanya Brown.
A 12-gauge shotgun went off as the woman's 23-year-old boyfriend removed it from the trunk of his car, Brown said.
Investigators went to the scene and conducted interviews, she said.
"At this time, we believe it was an accidental shooting," Brown said.
The woman was stabilized at Citizens Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to San Antonio Military Medical Center.
Brown declined to release the names of those involved.
Police Chief J.J. Craig made the decision not to release the names because the woman was being flown to another hospital and her family may not have been notified yet, Brown said.
