Shiner picnic offers family fun

The annual Shiner Catholic Church picnic begins Sunday, offering games and activities for the entire family.

The picnic, starting at 10:30 a.m. with a served lunch at the Knights of Columbus Park in Shiner, offers an entire day of dancing, music and entertainment.

A traditional Czech dinner with three meats, shiner picnic stew, fried chicken and country sausage with all the trimmings will be served for $9 until 2 p.m. Plates to-go are available.

Other food items, such as hamburgers, will be available throughout the day.

Games for children include giant water slides, ring toss, fish pond, ball throw, wheel of fortune and face painting will be scattered across the event.

Adults can enjoy the oversized country auction, old-fashioned bingo, plant wheel, grocery wheel and historic beer stand.

Arts and crafts, country store and live polka music featuring the Shiner Hobo Band will provide entertainment for the entire family.

The picnic also features a cattle auction at 3 p.m., a Shiner motorcycle run and moonlight dance featuring The Emotions at 10 p.m.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend.
