EDNA – A Nintendo Wii and XBOX 360 will make their debut Wednesday for the 2008 Jackson County Youth Fair.
“We will be adding a video game tournament this year,” said Diedra Whitley, Jackson County Youth Fair treasurer.
An IGX Games video game competition joins the list of favorites at this year’s fair.
A $100 GameStop gift certificate will be awarded to the players who can battle their way through the competition.
The fair began Saturday with the parade, followed by the Little Mister and Miss Jackson County Youth Fair Pageant and the Fair Queen pageant.
The horse events portion of the Little Wrangler Rodeo also were held Saturday.
“Wednesday is the big day,” Whitley said. “That’s when all the kids, parents and, well, grandparents come.”
The gates will open at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Heart of America Carnival, Ham Bone Express and video game competition will start at 6 p.m. each night.
The fair will also feature returning favorites such as an ATV Driving Contest, a petting zoo and livestock auctions.
Looking to the future, Whitley said the fair will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year and will move to the Brackenridge Recreation Complex on state Highway 111, south of Edna.
