BAY CITY - A Van Vleck man was killed when he drove down the wrong lane on state Highway 35 on Friday.

Travis Hadash, 46, was traveling south in a 1993 Ford pickup in the northbound lane and struck a 2002 Ford pickup traveling north head-on at 8:15 p.m., Department of Public Safety dispatcher said.

Hadash was pronounced dead at the scene, 2 miles west of the Matagorda and Brazoria county line, the dispatcher said. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the 2002 pickup, 22-year-old Tanya King from Van Vleck, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, the dispatcher said. King was in stable condition with broken bones. She was not wearing a seat belt.
