Sweet music by the Elkowitz sisters, melody trio, and a unique program of entertainment put on by E.W. Conway, general secretary of the Y.M.C.A., was the offering today for members of the Rotary Club a the regular weekly meeting luncheon period. H. T. Brewster was the program chairman.

Pvt. Clarence E. Beck and Pvt. Alvin Sloan returned yesterday from Fort Logan, Colo., where they have been for the past three years.

Town Talk: Fred Smith claiming he knows a few farmers who would like to get a two-inch rain, Joe Tasin right puzzled to find that his 6-year-old Red Radiance rose bush has sprouted some new pink blooms along with the usual red ones.

Miss Judy Adickesa and Miss Patty Kolle, seniors at Goliad High, were honored with a supper party given by Mrs. G. E. Diebel and Mrs. R. W. Horney recently in Mrs. Horney’s home. Mrs. Walter Adickes and Mrs. T. C. Kolle, mothers of the honorees, were special guests at the event. Additional guests were Misses Ruby Pieper, Anna Jean Pieper, Mary Abrameit, Mageret Abrameit, Glenda Dornburg, Leesta Sievers, Leona Kraatz, Jeanne Dell Jocobs, La Nell Bethke, Betty Bluntzer, Vanita Hausmann, Mary Ann Bailey and Sandra Toerck, and Mrs. Bobby Lee Clark, senior class sponsor.

Diana Urbano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andres Urbano, Sunday evening was crowned queen in the Reina de Fiestas Patrias contest as part of Hispanic Appreciation Week. Second runnerup is Lisa Martinez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Martinez. First runnerup is Mary Rose Reyes daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Reyes. A host of events are scheduled this week, climaxed by a dance Friday night at Riverside Market Square.

Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee A. Iacocca urged University of Michigan graduates in Ann Arbor, Mich., “to get so mad that you kick your elders in their figurative posteriors” over America’s economic condition.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana spent about 25 minutes in Los Angeles saying cheerio to the royal baby, Prince William, as the couple headed to the peaceful Bahamian island of Eleuthera and he went home with his nanny.

Margaret Williams of Xi Pi Rho and Karen Hughes of Alpha Nu Iota were among the pledges selected as Pledges of Year by their Beta Sigma Phi chapters. Becka Marcy of Alpha Beta Kappa, Sharon O’Rosky of Alpha Beta Zi and Bo Laurence of Alpha Phi Epsilon were also selected.

The incoming officers of the Beta Sigma Phi City Council were installed at the Founders’ Day banquet held recently. They include Karen Jones of Xi Pi Rho, first vice president; Frances Smith of Preceptor Gamma Kappa, president; Jimmie McGhee of Laureate Alpha Omicron, treasurer; Jo Carol Jones of Alpha Phi Epsilon, corresponding secretary; Debbie LaRue of Kappa Omicron, second vice president; and Willyce Pettus of Xi Gamma Omega, recording secretary.
