STERLING JAMES MEYER
VICTORIA - Sterling James Meyer, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. He was born January 8, 1924 in Nursery to the late Herman and Georgia Leeper Meyer. Sterling proudly served in country during WW II as a member of the United States Navy. He was an electrician with City Electric and a member of the First Assembly of God.
Sterling is survived by his wife, Helen Davis Meyer of Victoria; three daughters, Barbara Miller of Victoria, Virginia Thomas of Sinton, and Shirley Hoffmann of Victoria; son, Curtis Meyer of Pearland; two sisters, Farris Newman and Hilda Iraggi, both of Victoria; nine grandchildren, David Miller, Jennifer Solimon, Cynthia Hart, John Chovance, Amy Hoffmann, Dale Hoffmann, Tyler Meyer, Angelia Gutierrez, and Matt Hoffmann; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Scott Miller, Kate Miller, Bryce Hoffmann, and Trey Hoffmann; four nephews, and four nieces. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Meyer.
The family will receive friends at Grace Funeral Home on Thursday, December 6, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m.Friday, December 7, at First Assembly of God with Pastor Johnny Knight officiating. Burial with a flag fold and presentation under the auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, VVA, and KWV will be at Memory Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Meyer, Robert Iraggi, Gary Iraggi, and Wayne Iraggi.
Memorials in Sterling's name may be directed to Hospice of South Texas or First Assembly of God.
