Betta L. Jennings Schrade

BETTA L. JENNINGS SCHRADE
RUNGE - Betta Lou Jennings Schrade of Runge, passed away on Thursday, December 6, at the age of 91. Betta was born in Verdi, Atascosa County, Texas on November 16, 1921 to John W. and Asa Lou Fuller Jennings. She graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in banks in Jourdanton and Pleasanton. In 1943 she met and married Gus W. Schrade, a special handsome WWII soldier who had to return to Europe for another 22 months of combat before he and Betta could move to Choate where they started their family. Beginning in about 1957 she began working at the bank in Runge where she retired as teller and vice president after 30 years. Betta Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; two sisters, Berda Mae Robbins and Marie Brister; and one grandson, Mark Baker.
She is survived by one sister, Guyula Conley, of Paris, Arkansas; by her children: Gus Schrade, Jr and wife, Mary, of Runge; Linda Gayle Baker and husband, Bob, of Dickinson; and Mary Beth Morgan and husband, Bobby, of Runge; 7 grandchildren: Brad Morgan and wife Toni, of Gonzales, Bruce Morgan and wife, Cathy, of Bedford; Robert Baker and wife, Rachel, of Dickinson; Karissa Green and husband, Steven; of Runge; Trey Schrade and wife, Jennifer, of Ander; Donnie Baker and wife, Kim, of Texas City; and Roy Baker of Galveston; and 9 greatgrand children; and 3 great great grandchildren. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and good friends.
Visitation was held at Rhodes Funeral Chapel in Runge on Friday, December 7th, from 5-7 p.m. with funeral services at Rhodes Chapel on Saturday, December 8th, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Runge Cemetery.
