JON WILLIAM GIVEN
VICTORIA - Jon William Given, a diplomat, war veteran and world traveler, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was 78. Jon was born March 12, 1934, in Flora, IL to the late William Given and Elizabeth Ritz Given.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Given and Julie Taylor; One Grandchild; and numerous step-grandchildren.
Including his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Given; sisters, Kay and Virginia; and brother, Patrick.
Mr. Given led a storied and colorful life, traveling the world as a foreign servent and official with the United States Diplomatic Corps. He lived and traveled through out the Far East, Africa, South America and Florida Keys before returning to Washington, DC and later his childhood home of Flora, IL before heading to Texas in the later 90's. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a graduate from Bradley University.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
