MARIE CATHERINE GAFFNEY
YORKTOWN - Marie Catherne Gaffney, 87, of Yorktown passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. She was born January 27, 1925 in St. Louis, MO to the late Frank and Catherne Clark Tallis. She married her husband Frank Gaffney in 1945.
Marie and Frank and their two children moved to Florida in 1953 to raise her family, where they also welcomed another child. Marie had lost her husband in 1982 but stayed in Florida until 2000 when her daughter moved her to Cuero. She loved playing bingo and was known as the "Candy Lady" because she always handed out candy.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Gaffney of Louisiana and Thomas Gaffney of Florida; and daughter, Michelle Calk of Yorktown.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13,2012 10-12 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with Father David Berger officiating.
