Born on July 28, 1947
ROUND ROCK - Karl Franzl, 65, of Round Rock, TX, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was born in Czechoslovakia on July 28, 1947 to Wilhelm and Rosa Franzl.
Karl is remembered for his passion for travel and history. He was an avid reader, spending much of his free time with a book. He was a very talented artist, creating many pen and ink, charcoal, and wood burnings of historical landmarks, mainly European castles which reminded him of his home in Czechoslovakia. He was a very successful car salesman at Hiller Chevrolet in Hallettsville for many years. He also was the DJ for the Polka Show on Hallettsville's KRJH in the mid 1990s in which his knowledge of Czech culture and music helped enrich the show tremendously. He was well known for his charm, friendliness, and sense of humor.
Karl is preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Rosa Franzl, and his sister, Jirina Vitu.
Karl is survived by his children, Carolyn Honish and husband, Randy, of Round Rock, and Richard Franzl of New Orleans, granddaughter, Kalina Grace, and sister, Irena Hubackova of Czech Republic.
