SOPHIA LISA ORSAK SMITH
VICTORIA - Sophia Lisa Orsak Smith, 54, of Victoria passed from this world into the joys of heaven on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. She was born October 8, 1958, in Victoria to Irene Zielonka Orsak of Denton and the late Joe Orsak. She was nationally known through her sales and recruiting career with the Avon Corporation. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, Randy Smith; her caring mother, Irene Orsak of Denton, formerly of Cuero; her devoted daughter, Karen Smith; her cherished sons, Jeffrey Smith and Zachary Smith, all of Victoria; a sister, Karen Jackson of Denton; and two brothers, Steve Orsak of Katy and Gary Orsak of Ganado. She also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins and many extended family members, co-workers and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.
Pallbearers will be Chris Orsak, Joseph Orsak, Jason Orsak, Stephen Orsak, Randall Smith and Justin Hosek.
Sophia will be remembered for her feisty spirit and relentless energy. She fearlessly met every challenge life brought her way, and persevered until right prevailed. Her body was defeated by a cruel disease, but she now claims victory over death, gloriously rejoicing with her risen Savior, Jesus Christ. After being diagnosed with ALS the Avon Corporation honored her with the creation of the Sophia Smith Yellow Rose necklace. Every penny generated from the sale of this piece of jewelry is donated to ALS research.
