SHANTEA "TAE-TAE" MEDINA
VICTORIA - Shantea Roxanne DeLeon Medina, 28, passed away on April 5, 2013. She was born in Port Lavaca on March 8, 1985 to Mary Ann Alvarado and the late Humberto "Bob" DeLeon Jr. She was proudly adopted in August of 1994 by the late Juan Antonio Medina.
Shantea was a loving and dedicated daughter, proud sister, adoring aunt, and thought of her only sister-in-law, Melissa as a sister of the heart. Shantea was a very loyal friend to all. She gave freely of her time, love, money, and place to lay your head if you were in need. She had a special bond with Valencia Alvarado, Cassandra Luna, and Gabriella Alvarado. She was god-mother to Sebastian Luna.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Mary Ann and Joe Angel Gutierrez; partner of many years, Alfred Perez; maternal grandmother, Elida Mendoza, paternal grandmother, Julia DeLeon; paternal grandfather, Humberto DeLeon, Sr.; sisters, Crystal Deleon and Amethyst Garcia of Victoria, and Stacy Ramirez of San Diego, California; brothers, Bobby (Melissa) Medina of Victoria, and Tyson DeLeon of Corpus Christi; nephew, Diago Medina; also surviving her are her maternal aunts, Belen Ayala, and Susie Jimenez of Victoria; maternal uncles, Valentino, Gilbert, and Celestino Alvarado, of Victoria; paternal aunts, Abigail Venecia, Ida Chavez, Addie DeLeon, and Irma DeLeon of Port Lavaca, and Ruth de Lara of California, paternal uncles, Ruben and Emilio DeLeon of Seattle, Washington, Jesse DeLeon of Port Lavaca, and many, many cousins. She is preceded in death by her fathers, Humberto DeLeon, Jr., and Juan Antonio Medina; grandfather, Gilbert Alvarado; aunts Brenda Cespedes and Elizabeth DeLeon.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Hobbs officiating. Graveside service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
