James John Chomout Sr.

Born on Sept. 29, 1923

YOAKUM - James John Chomout Sr. age 89, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013.
He was born September 29, 1923 in Yoakum to Joseph and Katherine Zekas Chomout.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the US Army in World War II, is a member of VFW, American Legion, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, KJT, Yoakum Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and coached little league. He worked at Tandy Brands for 30 years and retired as vice-president of merchandizing.
Survivors: wife of 67 years, Agnes Harbus Chomout; daughters: Jeanette Kern of Cedar Park, Cathy Chomout of Coppell, Debbie Kaiser ( Wayne) of Yoakum, Mary Beth Bedwell (Dan) of Friendswood and Betsy Hollan (Wayne) of Magnolia; sons: James Chomout Jr. (Irma) of Yoakum, Michael Chomout (Alice) of Yoakum, Pete Chomout (Therese) of Giddings and John Chomout (Christine) of Dripping Springs; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister: Bessie Staehr of Yoakum; brother: Steve Chomout of Yoakum.
Preceded in death: parents, sisters: Joan Huntley, Mary Kovalcik and Lillie Okruhlik; brothers: Joe Chomout and Frank Chomout.
Visitation 8 a.m. Sunday, April 28, with rosary at 7 p.m. at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral mass 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Entombment at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum.
Pallbearers: grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers: granddaughters and great grand-children.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or Donor's Choice.
