GERALDINE M.J.B.J. HOFNER
FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA - Geraldine May (Geri, Goldie) Jarrett Brown Janak Hofner passed away on January 25, 2013 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.
She was born June 13, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Clinton H. Jarrett and Susanna Odell Johnston. She had 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by two brothers Ernest (Mable) Jarrett and Hank (Patricia) Jarrett both of Indiana; and two sisters Joyce Janak, of Victoria,Texas and Deborah LaQuay of Port Lavaca,Texas, many nephews, neices, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all around the USA.
She is also survived by four daughters: Karren Brown of Elizabethtown, KY, Sharon (Jarvis) Pigge of Grove City, OH, Frankie Lamascus of Floresville, TX, and Sheila (Woody) Boyle of Darlington SC. She had nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two of her grandchildren Rusty Mayfield and Starrlene Lamascus Luna. A special acknowlegement to her youngest grandson, Austin Boyle, with whom she spent most of his life and especially the past couple of years as he entertained the folks at "The Carolinian" in Florence. He also used to take her special orders of snacks and favors on his many visits to "Oakhaven Nursing Center" in Darlington the past few months.
Geri retired from the Bexar County Courthouse Tax Department in San Antonio TX in 1994. She resided for nearly 50 years in San Antonio then moved to Port Lavaca to be near her sisters. She moved to SC to live with her youngest daughter, Sheila, and her family in 2002. She loved to dance, play cards and travel. She was an avid shopper who loved to be in the height of fashion.
Her body will be cremated at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home in Darlington, SC.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. Graveside services will be in Koerth, TX later in the year.
