JOSEPH FRANK STAFF
EL CAMPO - Joseph Frank Staff, of El Campo, passed away on February 1, 2013 at the age of 92. He was born on December 23, 1920 in Garwood to the late Frank Paul and Mary Wesselski Staff. He served in the US Army during WWII as German Interpreter for the Generals. He was a life-long farmer, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 251.
He is survived by his daughters Bernadette Merta of Hillje and Alice Atchetee and husband Dixon of El Campo; sons Leon Staff and wife Gwen of East Bernard and Robert Staff and wife Charleen of El Campo; and sister Madelyn Novasad of Ganado.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Cecilia Hoffman Staff; sons Andrew Staff and Joseph Staff, Jr.; daughter Marcella Staff; sisters Tillie Janish and Clara Kasper; and brothers Clement, Daniel and Raymond Staff.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary being offered at 4:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, February 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada with Reverend Clement Quainoo officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251.
Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Staff, Brad Staff, Jared Merta, James Merta, Luc Argentier, Jerry Hensley, David Staff and Tony Janish. Honorary bearers are Dixon Atchetee, David Popp and Dick Korenek.
Memorial donations in memory of Joe Staff may be made to St. Mary's Church, St. Andrew's Church, Houston Hospice-El Campo or Czech Catholic Home.
