NELTON J. SCHNEIDER
GARWOOD - Nelton J. "Tony" Schneider of Garwood passed away with his beloved wife of 61 years, Annie, in a tragic automobile accident on February 6, 2013. He was born on January 14, 1928 to the late Charles and Bertha Swoboda Schneider in Garwood, Texas. He was a retired rice farmer, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the Nada Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Garwood Lions Club.
He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Korenek and husband Buddy of Garwood, Sheila Bubela and husband Michael of Houston and Renee Staff and husband Kenneth of Nada; sons Leon Schneider and wife Sandy, and John Schneider and wife Audrey, all of Garwood; grandchildren Kim Jones, Kyle, Klay and Kourtney Korenek, Aaron, Jaime, Dane and Lance Bubela, Meagan Staff Bubela, Jake Staff, Brent and Justin Schneider, Stacy Milentz, and Kelsey, Bailey and Riley Schneider; great-grandchildren Trevor and Terra Jones, Ally Korenek, Harper Korenek, Jackson and Tucker Bubela, Cooper and Easton Bubela, Adley Staff, Greyson Bubela, Hope and Ridge Schneider and Emily and Cole Schneider; sisters Lorine Bubela of Weimar and Jeanette Mazoch of El Campo; and brothers Charles Schneider of Stafford and Ed Lee Schneider of Nada.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Mayo and brother Leon Schneider.
A joint Rosary will be held at 7 pm on Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada, Texas. Visitation will be held prior to the Rosary. A joint Funeral Mass for will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Reverend Joe Vrana officiating. Graveside services will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251.
Pallbearers are his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations in memory of Tony and Annie may be made to St. Mary's New Hall Fund or Garwood Volunteer Fire Department.
