MARY E.A.S. JEMELKA
YOAKUM - Mary Elizabeth Ann (Sawey) Jemelka entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Mary was born February 22, 1928 near Midway, Texas. Her parents, Willis and Adella (Freytag) Sawey, raised Mary in values which balanced love of God and family with hard work. On October 16, 1945, Mary married Adolph Jemelka. Adolph passed away September 27, 1991. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Helen Mueller and Adella Effie Gearson Page, as well as numerous cherished relatives.
Mary is survived by her much-loved family which includes three children: Edward Jemelka of Yoakum, Judith Brown of San Antonio, and Carolyn Hagan of Mountain City; two sons-in-law, Donald Hagan and Robert Brown; three grandchildren, Brian Hagan of Mill Valley, CA, Michael "Shane" Jemelka of Missouri City and Christina "Tina" Sobotik of New Braunfels and seven great-grandchildren, Noah and Audrey Hagan, Caitlyn, Emmalie and Weston Jemelka, Hannah Patek and Taylor Sobotik.
Viewing and a rosary will be held at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum, at 7 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2013. Mass is scheduled at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Yoakum, at 11 AM on Friday, February 22, 2013 with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Yoakum on what would have been her 85th birthday.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
