TERRY LEE HEWLETT
VICTORIA - Terry Lee Hewlett was born January 1, 1947, in Mercedes, Texas, to Donald G. Hewlett and Merry Ferne Hewlett Grimes. He was preceded in death by daughter, Heather Lee Hewlett, his parents, sister Bobbie Webb, cousin Lewis Stephens, and in-laws Vee and Roy Swanson.
He is survived by wife, Willa V. "Punkie" Hewlett, daughter Meredith Ferne Potts and husband Chris, stepson Kevin Crousen and wife Emily, step-daughter Kerri Morris and husband Greg; grandaughters Kaitlyn Avery Potts and Kylie Addison Potts; step-grandsons Cooper and Carson Morris, and step-grandaughters Claire Morris and Stealey and Ruby Crousen; sister-in-law Ellen Brumback, and her children Adam (Val), Brett and Allie Smith, and grandsons Hunter and Gavin; and also cousins, nieces and nephews.
Terry graduated from Victoria High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas in 1969. He served in the US Army for two years. He started to work at DuPont in 1974, retiring in 2005.
Terry loved to read and to work in the yard. He was a great cook and enjoyed fine food and drink. He also loved his trips to Las Vegas and Tahoe. His daughter Meredith and her daughters were "the light of his life." He and his wife enjoyed traveling and took several memorable trips before he was sidelined by illness. He had a great personality and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m at Grace Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at 4:00 pm in the back yard of the Hewlett home at 202 Craig Street. Afterwards, everyone is invited to stay for food and drink and to share memories of Terry.
At a later date, Terry's ashes will be scattered at a private family service.
Donations can be made to The COPD Foundation, Dorothy O'Connor Pet Adoption Center or Hospice of South Texas.
Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Potts, Kevin Crousen, Greg Morris, and Adam Smith, Patrick Barnes, Jim Raven, Roger Schustereit, Dr. Juan Llompart, and Dr. Edward Ferrell.
