CATHERINE ELLIS LUNDY
EL CAMPO - Catherine Ellis Lundy, a long time resident of El Campo, passed away at her home on January 4, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born July 15, 1923 in Damon, TX to the late Asa Howell and Lucy Catherine Cates Ellis. With her husband, D B Lundy, she worked in the family business, Lundy Vacuum Service, for 50 years before their retirement.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was always active in the women's fellowship, youth programs and the FBC Centennial celebration. Catherine and D B were instrumental in working with the Junction Baptist Church building projects and youth activities during their early retirement years. In 1997, they returned to El Campo where she was a member of the Women's Club, Community Bible Study and TOPS. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, grace, compassion and tireless service to others.
Catherine is survived by her sons DB Lundy and wife Norelle, son Peyton Lundy and wife Judy; daughter Rebecca Fitts; brother Asa Ellis; grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nonny", Lundy Fitts and wife Vanessa, Joshua Fitts and wife Nicole, Norelle Becker and husband Brian, Derik Lundy and wife LeAnne, John Macha, Jason Macha, Justin Peevy, and Danielle Pratka and husband Kurt; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, D B Lundy; sisters Dorothy Cloud, Wilma Koenig and Mary Sweeny.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Triska Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The memorial service will be 11:00 am Monday, January 7, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of El Campo with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Graveside services will be private.
Memorial donations in memory of Catherine Lundy may be made to the First Baptist Church of El Campo or to Houston Hospice-El Campo.
