VIVIAN O. MATTHEWS
VICTORIA - Vivian Odessa Moore Matthews passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, at age 81. She was born on July 5, 1931, in Gilbert, LA., to the late John Lathan and Ora Olata Hensley Moore. She moved to Texas in 1947.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she loved spending time with her family. She was also a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX, and spent many years teaching in the middle schools of Kingsville.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debra J. Matthews, of Victoria, Tx, sister, Mary Arlene Branch, and brother-in-law, Kenneth, of Cataula, GA.
Grandsons include James Matthews of Katy, Tx, Timothy Matthews, of Victoria, Tx, Nathan Matthews of Corpus Christi, Tx, and Joshua Matthews of Conroe, Tx.
Granddaughters-in-law include Donna Matthews of Katy, Tx, Alicia Matthews of Victoria, TX and Rachel Matthews of Corpus Christi, TX.
Great Grandchildren are,Trevor and Evan Matthews of Katy, TX, Lucas and Ava Matthews of Victoria, TX and Olivia and Noah Matthews, of Corpus Christi, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardis E. "Pat" Matthews, son Danny L. Matthews and brother Charles E. Moore.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Baptist Temple Church, with Reverend David Hudson officiating.
In lieu of flowers Vivian requested donations to the American Cancer Society in her name.
