Born on Sept. 25, 1953
PORT LAVACA - Cynthia Cuellar, 59, of Port Lavaca, passed away on July 4, 2013. She was born on September 25, 1953, to the late Alfred Lamar Marshall and Bernice Marshall.
Cynthia was a lifelong resident of Port Lavaca and a graduate of Calhoun High School. She worked at First State Bank for over a decade before becoming a stay-at-home mom in 1988. After leaving First State Bank, Cynthia became very involved in her children's school events, served on the PTA, and worked as the CHS Band Booster Treasurer. She and husband Stephen recently celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Cynthia had a truly contagious smile, and she never met a stranger. She could often be found chatting with friends and acquaintances in the aisles of the local grocery stores. She loved playing board games with family and friends, and her competitive spirit would rise to the surface as she would proudly declare herself "The Queen" after a winning streak.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Stephen Cuellar, of Port Lavaca; daughter Kristy and son-in-law Buford of Austin; son Samuel Cuellar of College Station; son Daniel Cuellar of Houston; mother Bernice Marshall of Port Lavaca; brother Lanny Marshall of Port Lavaca; granddaughter Lucinda Robins of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her father, Alfred Lamar Marshall, and brother, Alfred Lamar "Butch" Marshall.
Visitation will be held at Colonial-Richardson Funeral Home in Port Lavaca from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 8, and memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca. Pallbearers will be Samuel Cuellar, Daniel Cuellar, Buford Robins, Michael Cuellar, Alphonzo Chavana, and Taylor Novak.
Memorials in Cynthia's name may be directed to Hospice of South Texas.
