Born on Feb. 28, 1945
CLEMVILLE - Cecil Rooks, 68, of Clemville, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, after a long hard fight against multiple illnesses. He was born February 28, 1945 in Palacios to the late Gene and Mary Rooks.
He was a hard-working man who served this Country as a Specialist/E-4 in the United States Army as an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist in the 10th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo., from 1965- 1967. He married his loving wife of almost 46 years on July 11, 1966. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends but will continue to live in all of our hearts and souls in memory forever.
He is survived by his wife, Lane Rooks of Bay City; son, Coy Rooks (Tracey Rogers,fiancée) of El Toro; daughter, Karen Rooks-Gatson (Don Gatson) of Bay City; grandson, Justin Rooks of El Toro; granddaughter, Amber Bozka (Mathias Bozka III) of Vienna; great-grandaughters, Sarabeth Green and Railey Green; great-grandsons, Mathias Bozka IV of Vienna; and step-grandchildren, K'trell and Malik Thomas of Bay City. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie Rooks (Donna) of Bay City; sisters, Learline Henson (Irvin) of Palacios, Merlin Bowen of Ingleside, Ellen Ried (Charles) of Blessing, and Shirley Hattenbach of Palacios; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Brianna Rooks.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Bay House at the Legacy Campus, 700 12th St., Bay City, with a fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in the name of Cecil Rooks to the Relay for Life Cancer Fund or a charity of your choice.
