SANDRA LEE SANDOVAL
VICTORIA - The Heavens rejoiced today as our precious daughter, Sandra Lee Sandoval, walked through the Golden gates to meet her Lord and our other departed family members.
Sandra Lee Sandoval passed away at her home, June 15, 2013 surrounded by her parents and loved ones. Sandra was born in Port Lavaca on October 24, 1975 to Abundio Pompa (Slim) and Maria Elena (Mary) Villarreal Sandoval. She leaved behind her Boston Terrier, Lady, whom she enjoyed walking to pick up the mail. She is also survived by grandparents Miguel and Olivia P. Villarreal from Seadrift and the late Manuel and Irene Pompa Sandoval from Goliad.
She will be greatly missed by her boyfriend, Jason Orsak from Cypress and his parents Bob and JoAnn Orsak, formerly of Victoria. Sandra and Jason knew each other since they were in pre-K and all through their school years. They enjoyed each others company and when they visited her, Jason would always take her to Golden Corral, one of her favorite places to eat.
She leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her team members and coaches of the Victoria Shining Stars Special Olympic Team. Sandra had a love for children and volunteered as a pre-K teacher assistant at Rowland Elementary during her high school years. Sandra graduated from Victoria High School in 1997 and attended the Affectionate Arms Adult Day Care. She enjoyed the social gatherings and activities at the daycare. The staff of the daycare and the clients were her second family. She loved them dearly and even when she was sick at home, she always talked about them and the fun times. Sandra's favorite color was 'Red" and always wanted to wear red. Please family and friends wear bright colors to celebrate her life.
Sandra was able to attend and participate in the handicap dance classes that Sylvia Manning taught. Sandra and her team members also participated in recitals and received many trophies and awards. She was an active member of the Victoria Shining Stars Special Olympic Team from 2000-2013. She enjoyed doing bowling, basketball, track and field. She traveled with the team to different places to compete and received many medals and ribbons. Her favorite saying was, "Coach Olympia, are we staying at a hotel with a swimming pool?" We enjoyed seeing her in the competitions. She loved going to Seadrift to see her grandparents. She loved helping Grandpa feed the potbelly pig, dogs, and going fishing.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 5-7 pm at Grace Funeral Home. A rosary will follow at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 1 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Daniel Houde officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
We are honored to have as pallbearers Edward and Jennifer Lynn Hranicky, Ramon Hinojosa, Jr., Aaron Orsak, Victor Morales and Tyrone Harris; uncles, Miguel Villarreal, Jr., Juan Villarreal, Jesse Villarreal, Victor Sandoval; aunt, Patricia V.
