James Francis Sullivan

Born on April 24, 1940

VICTORIA - James (Jim) Francis Sullivan of Victoria, TX and Creede, CO was brought home by God on March 18, 2013. He was born April 24, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Frank Harold Sullivan and Caroline Dorothy Marcelline Biedess Sullivan. He married Betty Sue Harden on October 22, 1963 and was married for 49 years until his passing. Together they raised a son and two daughters and have two grandsons.
Jim was a Senior Staff Engineer at DuPont from 1963-2002. He was recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for building the world's largest high pressure vessel with parts from DuPont's junk yard and International Society of Mechanical Engineering for co- developing, writing and editing the ANSI International High Pressure Code manual still in use today.
A devout Christian, he was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Victoria, TX. Here he served the Lord in many capacities including stage design and construction, handyman, teaching Sunday School and his favorite teaching the Royal Ambassadors boys, a Baptist youth organization. Jim always rejoiced in seeing the young men that he taught grow into soldiers for the Lord his Savior. He felt that teaching and encouraging the boys in the church was one of his greatest accomplishments.
His survivors include wife Betty Sue Harden Sullivan; daughter Kelly Sullivan Clausius and husband Jeff Clausius; son Frank Sullivan; daughter Mandy Sullivan Gegoux and husband Ted Gegoux; sister Carolyn Sampson and partner Darius Sadeghi; brother Patrick M. Sullivan and partner Marija Jovanovic; and grandsons Christopher Sullivan and Zachary Clausius.
Visitation will take place at Tyler Jackson-Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home on March 30, 2013 at 12:30 PM with the funeral beginning at 1:30 with Pastor Kenneth Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral In The Pines in Tyler, TX.
A second memorial service will be held in Victoria, TX at Northside Baptist Church on April 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Mickey Ewing officiating. A third memorial service will be held in Creede, CO in mid-July.
