EVELYN IRENE LAZA
VICTORIA - Evelyn Irene Laza, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She was born January 27, 1921, near Shiner, TX, to the late Joseph E. and Frances Barina Mikeska. She is survived by two daughters Yvonne Kay (Gary) Dandy of Eureka Springs, AR; Vickie Sue (Glenn) Spann of Victoria; a niece, Shirley Ann (David) Gisler, who was fondly referred to as their third daughter; one granddaughter, Kristin Page Dandy Beshires; a great granddaughter, Reese McKenzi Beshires, of Fayetteville, AR and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Charles Laza, on August 9, 2006, and two brothers, Calvin R. and Marvin J. Mikeska.
She was an active member of First English Ev. Lutheran Church, having served on Altar Guild and Friendly Service. She was a member of the Ruth Circle and Fifty and Fun. She was also a member of DaCosta Sons of Hermann #265.
The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to Dr. Dante Garza, Dr. Juan Llompart, and the wonderful nurses on 4 East at DeTar Hospital and also to the staff, the nurses and CNAs on C-wing at Twin Pines Nursing and Rehab for their loving concern and care of Mother.
Visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home on Friday, March 29, from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at First English Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 30th, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Gisler, Calvin Mikeska, Jr., Marvin Mikeska, Jr., Mike Laza, Thomas Laza and Douglas Bluhm.
Honorary pallbearers are the Rev. Henry Beseda, Theofil Kocian, Roy Johnson, Raymond Darilek, Frank Edward Malina, Victor Swanson, Matt Maples, James Reinhardt, Ronnie Koliba and Wilbert Lemke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First English Ev. Lutheran Church Altar Guild, Victoria, TX, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38101, or a charity of your choice.
