LUIS MARTINEZ JR.
VICTORIA - Luis Martinez Jr, went to join Our Heavenly Father on Monday May 13, 2013. He was 95 years old. Mr. Martinez was born April 1, 1918 to the late Luis and Guadalupe Martinez in Nursery, Texas.
We are forever grateful for the work ethic that he instilled and the foundation that he provided for our family. He also laid the foundations for many subdivisions in Victoria such as Castle Hills, Mayfair, Northcrest, and Woodway. He was an honest, hard-working, and trustworthy businessman. He was a man without education; he did not know how to read but learned with the help of his first boss, Mr. Ford, to read blueprints and was later the owner of Luis Martinez Foundation Contractor.
Luis is survived by his daughters, Annie (Ramon) Barela, Lucy Villarreal, and Diana Salinas. Sons, Louis (Janie) Martinez III, Jesse (Sylvia) Martinez, Rudy (Carmen) Martinez, Ricky, Michael, Jasper, Adrian and Phillip (Gayle) Martinez along with 38 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, 36 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Anastasia Martinez of 52 years, and 2nd wife, Susie Grimaldo. Daughters, Sylvia (Jesse) Rodriguez, Virginia Flores, son, Roger Martinez. Brothers, Manuel Martinez, Miguel Martinez, Jesus Martinez, and Manuel Ortiz Martinez. Sisters; Magdalena Martinez, Consuelo Rodriguez, Margarita Ramirez, Guadalupe Bravo, and Modesta Martinez.
Visitation will begin on Thursday May 16, 2013 at 2pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria. Visitation will resume Friday May 17 at the funeral home from 9am - 10am with a procession to Memorial Park Cemetery begin at 10am.
Pallbearers will be son, Louis Martinez III, grandsons, Bernard Barela, Mark Anthony Flores, Louis Martinez IV, Jesse Martinez Jr, and great grandson Louis Martinez V. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephew Bobby Martinez of Phoenix, AZ, grandsons, John Barela, John Allen Martinez, and Jose Villarreal Jr.
