APOLINAR "PAUL" J. SALINAS
VICTORIA - Apolinar "Paul" J. Salinas, 78, of Victoria, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013. He was born July 23, 1934 in Benavidez to the late Apolinar V. and Laura Martinez Salinas. He was a Catholic and served in the United States Army for 8 years. He was a Boy Scout Master, a girls' softball coach at St. Joseph as well as a coach for men's softball, was a bowler who served as secretary for the SR Bowling League, and retired from DuPont after being an industrial fire and safety inspector for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Toni Elizondo Salinas of Victoria; daughter, Karen M. Willson (Robert) of Oregon City, OR.; son, Eric G. Salinas of Victoria; sister, Hilda Reifsteck (Carl) of Illinois; brother, Freddy Salinas of Corpus Christi; and grandsons, Koby D. Willson and Bryce P. Willson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph M. Salinas; step-sisters, Marie Childers, Amelia Benavides and Laura Garcia; and step-brothers, Gilbert Garcia Sr. and Eliseo Garcia.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Artero Memorial Chapels. Visitation will resume from 12 - 1 p.m. with a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 704 Mallette Drive, Victoria. Burial will follow at Resurrcetion Cemetery with full military services under the auspices of Victoria Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EXPOW, MOPH, S, KWV.
Pallbearers: Steve Elizondo, Eric Salinas, Koby Willson, Don Beckham, Abel Garcia, and Jesse Guzman. Honorary pallbearers: Roque Estrada, David Flores, Ernest Hosey, Fidel Padilla, Dennis Basaldua, and John Figueroa.
