Leon Joseph Meismer

Born on Sept. 8, 1929

NADA - Leon Joseph Meismer, 84 of Nada, passed away on November 7, 2013. He was born on September 8, 1929 in Nada, Texas to Joseph and Annie Leopold Meismer. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in 1947, and also a graduate of Lee College. Leon was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as Staff Sgt. with SCARWAF in Korea from 1951 to 1952, and was a member of the Nada Knights of Columbus, KJT and the American Legion Post 251.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Anita Vega Meismer of Nada, sons Michael Meismer of Baytown, Patrick Meismer and wife Jean of Garwood, Bruce Meismer and wife Kimberly of Kerrville, daughter Gi Smith and husband Dan Gregory of Dayton, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sister Irene Bittner of Garwood and brother Norbert Meismer of Nada.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Meismer, sisters Dorothy Stanley and Sister Hilda Meismer, and grandchildren Jonathan Meismer and Katrina Meismer Harris.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 1-3 pm at Triska Funeral Home and from 4 - 6 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a Rosary being held at 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Joe Vrana officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251.
Pallbearers are Al Joe Bittner, Paul Bittner, Michael Leon Leopold, Kenneth Leopold, Bill Koch and Fred Kubesch.
Charitable donations in memory of Leon may be made to P.O. Box 23, Nada TX 77460 to be distributed to Seminary Burse or to Garwood Volunteer Fire Dept.
