Adelia 'Della' Emma Lippe

Born on Feb. 10, 1924

ADELIA EMMA LIPPE
YOAKUM - Adelia "Della" Emma Lippe was born near Yorktown, Texas on February 10, 1924, to Alvin and Augusta Franz Buendel.
Her life was the definition of the pioneer spirit in her marriage with Benno, who preceded her in death in 2009. She was always an asset in their marriage and throughout her lifetime. Della was one of the rare women who accomplished the duties of mother, housewife, farm hand, and employee. Her work ranged from "chief, cook, and bottlewasher" to the tractor driver while Benno harvested the crops. She managed the Yoakum Primary School Cafeteria for many years, and her prowess in hard work and the fine art of making cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls, kolaches, and fried chicken remained a treat for several generations of her family, neighbors, and friends.
Della's nickname was Sunshine in her younger years, and she had an infectious laugh-especially when she was winning in dominoes. She held a very positive outlook in life and only saw the best in others in every situation. She gave to others her talents, charm, and hard work through volunteerism in various organizations including the Lutheran Church Women and the Yoakum Hospital's Pink Ladies.
Della is survived by son David Lippe of Seguin and daughter Dori (Allan) Wyatt of Yoakum, grandchildren Connie (Matt) Donsbach of Seguin, Marsha Lippe of Seguin, Dustin (Lindsey) Wyatt of New Braunfels, and Carly (Robert) Park of San Antonio, and great grandchildren Morgan Donsbach, Lindsi Donsbach, Hannah Hammond, Southern Wyatt, Remington Wyatt, Baylor Wyatt, and Claire Park. She is also survived by brother, Oliver Buendel of Fallbrook, California, and a sister, Lorene Schley of Yorktown, Texas. She was preceeded in death by husband, Benno Lippe, as well as siblings Edna Partain, Allie Geffert, Alene Kramer, and Alvin Buendel Jr.
Visitation will be Friday, November 15 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16 at the First Baptist Church in Yoakum. Pallbearers will be Larry Geffert, Roger Geffert, Lloyd Lippe, Phil Lippe, Dustin Wyatt, and Les Lowrie.
