MIGUEL A. GOMEZ
VICTORIA - Miguel A. Gomez, age 79, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. He was born August 11, 1934 in Nursery, Texas to the late Isidro Lerma Gomez and Aurora Veliz Gomez.
He owned and operated Mike's Body Shop for many years. He proudly served in the United States Army, and was a member of the CWV. While growing up, he played baseball on the city leagues. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and golf. He was the comedian in his family, and always enjoyed the time spent together. He was very special to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Gomez; children: Kathryn Gomez Martin (Johnnie) of Victoria, Anne F. Guzman of Austin, Michael Gomez and Eric C. Gomez both of Victoria, Lucinda M. Pascarella (Michael) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Angelic A. Gomez (Patrick Ochoa), Pete M. Gomez (Ericka), and April M. Gomez, all of Victoria; sister, Lupe G. Flores and brother, Rudy Gomez, both of Victoria; twenty six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Shelley Tipton and Steven R. Gomez; and brothers, Pete Gomez and Alex Gomez.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, October 4, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home, and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with the Rev. Patrick Knippenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben P Cantu Jr., Mason Tipton, Joel Gomez, Pete Escalona, Joshua Flores, and Joe Gonzales.
Full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.
