Born on July 29, 1930
VICTORIA - Fidel Garcia, 83, of Victoria, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013. He was born July 29, 1930 in Falfurias to the late Fidel Sr. and Manuela Garza Garcia. He was a Catholic who attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and retired from DeTar Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Camacho Garcia of Victoria; daughter, Cynthia Marie Garcia (David) of Victoria; sisters, Dora Salazar of Edinburg, Gloria Suggs of San Antonio, and Eloisa Garcia of Mission; grandchildren, Lisa J. Salas (Hector), Stephanie M. Medina, and Mark E. Alvarez (Kim); and great-grandchildren, Ivan Salas, Isaac Salas, Sara Medina, Ashley Medina, Zachary Alvarez, Riley Alvarez, and Blake Alvarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beatriz Yandell and Lily Lopez; and brothers, Perfecto Garcia and Rolando Garcia.
Visitation was held at 2 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Artero Memorial Chapels. Funeral Mass will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church, in English. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery with a full military service under the auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, WS, KWV.
Pallbearers: David W. Garcia, Mark Edward Alvarez, Ronaldo Anzaldua, Hector Salas, Lawrence Cortez, and Ivan Salas.
