SHINER - Charlie Patek, age 90, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013.
He was born August 10, 1923 in Shiner to Charles James Patek, Sr. and Elizabeth Veit Patek.
He was a butcher and worked at Patek's Grocery and Market for 37 years. He was a veteran and belonged to the Shiner DAV, Shiner VFW and American Legion, KJT, Shiner Business Men's Association and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors: wife, Mary L. Heimann Patek; daughters: Marjorie Petru and Pat Shimek (Marty) of Shiner and Charlene Ulman (Stan) of Montgomery Tx.; sons: Bernie Patek (Marzeline) of Moulton, Raymond Charles Patek (Marilyn) of Katy and daughter-in-law, Barbara Patek, Donald Patek (Marsha) of Shiner and Charles Patek III (Stacey) of Tomball; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Kocian of Shiner; brothers: Rudy Patek (Bea) of Moulton and Dennis Patek (Mary) of Pearland; bother-in-law, Ben Matula of Shiner and sister-in-law Mary Jane Patek of Port Alto.
Preceded in death by parents, infant son, Joseph Patek; brothers, Victor and Gus Patek; sister, Helen Matula; great-grandson, Clayton Patek and son-in-law, Bill Petru.
Rosary 6 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral mass 10 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2013 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Rev Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church or Shiner Catholic School.
