Born on Sept. 10, 1945
VICTORIA - Michael Malandrakis, 68, became our guardian angel on September 25, 2013. He was born on September 10, 1945 in El Campo to the late Manuel Malandrakis and Emily Zaruba Morrison. Mike retired from Baker Hughes after 45 years of service. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a loving husband, amazing daddy, and beloved pawpaw. He dedicated his whole life to his family. He was such a hardworking and generous man who cared more for others than himself. He was also an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Malandrakis. He is also survived by his son Shawn (Michelle) Malandrakis of Westhoff and his daughters Shannon (Justin) Fossati of Pine Hurst, Stephanie Malandrakis Castillo of Tomball and Stacy (Neal) Fanelli of Victoria. He is also survived by his brother Carl (Kathy) Morrison, Jr. of El Campo and his sisters Michele (Allen) Rachunek of Wharton, Theresa (Joe) Krenek of Port O'Connor, and Eileen (Lupe) Gonzales of League City; as well as his brother-in-laws Vernon Long of Yoakum, Michael (Olivia) Budaus of Uvalde and Steve (Cindy) Budaus of Victoria. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Dylan and Kalan Malandrakis; Talynn, Tarynn & Tanner Fossati; Gracie Castillo; and Harly and Casen Fanelli; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Carl Gene Morrison, his sister Anna Long and brother-in-law Charles Budaus.
Pallbearers: Jamie Long, Vernon Long, Jr., Dwayne Long, Winton Long, John Rachunek, Danny Carery, Joey Carey, and Carl Morrison, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers: Grandsons, Mikey Carey, Dr. Juan Llompart, Dr. Fabian Espinosa, Baker Hughes family, Frank Tousak, Allen Butschek and Jimmie Callaway.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 starting at 6 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home chapel followed by a rosary starting at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Dan Morales officiating. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military honors are under the auspice of the Victoria County Veterans Council. Services are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home, 361-578-3611.
