MARTHA ANN MATA
HOUSTON - Martha Ann Mata, 61, passed away on April 27, 2014, in her home, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born in Yoakum, TX on April 1, 1953 to John and Adela Mata.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Mata, whom she adored.
Martha is survived by her husband, Eli Barron; her mother, Adela Garcia Harrell; her children Nathan Vera, Carliss 'Dawn' Ramos, Amanda Vera and Skye Vera; and her seven grandchildren, all of Houston, TX.
She was a Harris County Constable for over 15 years, had an easy humor and quick wit that was contagious. Being the strong woman that she always was, she fought a sickness that consumed her day to day actions for over three years and bravely made the decision to enter Hospice, where she remained strong in her decision through to the end. She liked to put on her red shoes for a good time and put them on this one last time for the final curtain call. She is not suffering anymore and although she will be missed by those who loved her, we will see her again in victory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for all those who loved and adored this vivacious woman called Martha, who is now policing the grounds of Heaven. A Celebration of Life service is to be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Broadway Church Fellowship Hall, 7311 Bowie Street, Houston, TX 77012.
