ROBERT H. WELDER II
VICTORIA - Robert Hughes Welder II, 56, of Victoria passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Rob was born on October 3, 1957 and was raised in Victoria.
He was a loving and kind husband, father, and friend.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Hughes Welder, Jr. and Katie Smith Welder.
He is survived by his wife, Nan; son, Robert Hughes Welder III and wife, Kathe and grandson, Tritt Hood Welder of San Antonio; daughter, Katherine Hughes Welder; son Phillip Gainer; brother, Patrick Hughes Welder III and wife, LeAnne; sister, Patricia Welder Farley and husband, John Phillip Farley and many loved nieces and nephews.
Rob graduated from the Texas Military Institute in San Antonio. He was a trustee at the Rob & Bessie Welder Wildlife Foundation and volunteered for the Texas youth hunting programs. Rob was a member of the Texas Wildlife Association, Santa Gertrudis Breeder's Association, National Rifle Association, Young Men's Christian Association, honorary member of the Bloomington Chapter FFA and the Victoria Water Soil Conservation Association. He had an immense love of the land and a passion for being outdoors. Rob enjoyed spending time on the bay and at the boathouse in Seadrift. He was an avid hunter and gun collector with a great interest in military and war history. Rob looked forward to his hunting trips to West Texas every year. Most of Rob's closest friends knew him by the name "Pooter" as given to him by his sweet Ashley.

A memorial service celebrating Rob's life will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home, 3304 Mockingbird Lane in Victoria on Monday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. , 361-573-4546.
