Students should be

Editor, the Advocate:

I am a senior at Memorial High School and I have a problem with my school. I think that the district cares more about parents than they do about students, because only when a parent complains is the administration moved to help a student. I have gone all the way through school with my dad behind me 100 percent — but when I found myself without a guardian this year, I also found myself with no help from administration. It's too late for me this year, but I'm writing to remind you of the others — the students who are shuffled through the system year after year and receive little to no guidance or assistance in school, because they are alone in the world. In a school system, a child should be No. 1 on the list of priorities — not his/her parents. Just remember that not all children have been blessed as I have in the past, and none should be ignored because they have no one else to fall back on.
