I think Dr. Jaynes definitely has a conflict of interest if he would vote for anything that had to do with his wife or son-in-law or anything like that. It would appear that he is running because he has an ax to grind.

In the beginning, I was against the doctor running for public office, but Mrs. Keeling has brought this mudslinging, and we are down in Reno 911 again, so I would vote for the doctor even if I’m not in the district to vote.

Yes, there is a conflict for Dr. Jaynes, and I am sure he’s very happy that you put his picture on the front page of the paper, and I think he’s only running because his wife did not get her way with the superintendent, and I think this is a disgrace for Victoria that he’s even running.

The state attorney general is a Republican and so is Dr. Charlie Jaynes, which can be called nepotism, just like twins.

George

Yes, there is a conflict of interest, and Dr. Jaynes would not be running had his wife had gotten her way. Also, I feel like voting for someone who delivered your baby is just like voting for someone just because she did my nails.

Time for him to give it up, the conflict of interest. Be done with it.

Yes, of course we’ve had to cut back on pet expenses because of gas prices. Our greatest sorrow is our inability to get to Maggie’s Meat Market, your great library and Halepaska’s during three trips to Victoria a week. Now, we’re reduced to once a week.

The indictments are a horrible injustice to four honorable law-abiding men. It’s unfortunate that Steve Tyler has let his arrogance and ego interfere with the justice system; he can blame the grand jury all he wants, but he is ultimately responsible. This is clearly a smokescreen to try and make the Ratcliff case go away.

If Victoria had a police chief from Long, Texas, he’d clean out and clean up the police department. He is the sheriff of Calhoun County.

Don

Crescent Valley

My question is why doesn’t the district attorney leave the officials alone who are doing their jobs properly and go after all these rent moguls who are hogging all the money for the rent houses and charging outrageous, illegal prices. This is ridiculous: the rent in the Victoria area.

I do not think the DA is trying to intimidate the media; I think it’s just the opposite. I think the Victoria Advocate is trying to intimidate the DA with all the total negative headlines and articles it continues to write.

Janet

I don’t like the sheriff; I don’t like the district attorney; I hate the mayor; I hate the crooked chief of police. It’s the police department that has the Advocate in problems, not the DA.

Don

Crescent Valley

The DA intimidating the media? Would the paper allow itself to be intimidated by the DA?

The paper’s reporting does state a clear favoritism for Smith, Ure and Armstrong.

So is the paper trying to intimidate the DA? Moreover, (is it) insulting the members of the grand jury? The paper would be prudent to simply report facts. The grand jury could be right.

No, I do not think Dr. Jaynes has a conflict of interest.
