In 2003, while living in Kingsville, I became aware that the water coming from the faucets and shower head in our apartment was radioactive. I determined such by purchasing and employing radiation dosimeters. I also researched the history of uranium in situ leach-mining in the area. In July, 2006, my wife and I moved to Port Lavaca, where I again began testing the water. During the time between our arriving here and the present, radiation from the faucets and shower heads has averaged 35 Roentgens, with one peak of 120 Roentgens. Last month, the radiation level was 40 Roentgens.
I have been unable in either Kingsville or Port Lavaca to get any cooperation whatever from government officials or newspapers. None! Two days ago, my wife and I went to the Port Lavaca city manager’s office to register a complaint. While received courteously and advised that he would check with the city water department concerning the radiation, nothing has been heard from him. It would appear that either Mr. Gary Broz has been too busy or that his water department is not good at returning calls.
I’m not willing to go on bathing and washing in radioactive water; neither do I like washing clothes and dishes in radioactive water. We are limiting the length of time exposed to the water, use the dishwasher rather than wash dishes by hand, and of course we do not drink the water. Meanwhile, there is little doubt that people here are drinking the water. Some, even many, of these people will contract bone cancer, leukemia (one case having been reported recently), kidney, liver, and other soft tissue cancer.
Failing to hear from City Manager Broz, I have prepared a flier I will begin distributing Monday (something of which I informed the Victoria Advocate I would do). I have several other actions in mind, moreover.
To have my water poisoned is to me the same as having my food poisoned. Events and symptoms having to do with our health convince me that the immune systems of my wife and I are being degraded by radiation exposure and poisoning. It is like being attacked physically, and I won’t tolerate any more of it. Meanwhile, it has occurred to me that you and the citizens of the Goliad area might be interested in my experiences and activities, and this is to inform you. If I can be of service to you in any way, please let me know.
