Students of the St. Joseph High School Band program were awarded five first-division medals on March 6 at the Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest, sponsored by the Texas Private Schools Music Educators Association in Addison. Mark Chavez received a First-Division Gold Medal for his performance of Class II B-flat Clarinet solo. Advancing to the state competition for a Gold-Medal performance on a Class I solo are, from left, Michael Petrash II, electric bass; Sofia Chinea-Alvarado, saxophone; Eric Still, trumpet; Mark Chavez and Hilary Kristynik, flute.
