Assistant Chief Charles Klaevemann peers through a window of a burned
home at 213 Miltenberger in Cuero as firefighter Clinton Morris steadies
the ladder. A fire started around 10:30 Thursday night. Rev.
Verlon B. Friar, his wife and three sons were all able to escape the
fire without injury.
