Carl Hopkins, of Porter, won the Texas State Championship fiddle contest Sunday at the Fiddlers' Frolics in Hallettsville. In addition to a $1,500 prize, Hopkins will compete in the Grand Master Fiddling Championship in Nashville in the fall.
