The Republican Women of Yoakum announced the winners of the club's annual Constitutional essay contest. High school seniors from DeWitt and Lavaca County schools were invited to participate. Students were asked to write their essay regarding the relevance of the United States Constitution in today's world. This years' contest was organized by Judy Blazer and Aileen Hybner. A cash prize was awarded to the winner from each high school and the grand champion. The winners were: Tasha Zidek, Moulton; Desiree Gibson, Shiner; Nathan Wendel, Cuero; Emma Holly, St. Paul, Shiner; and the grand champion essay was written by Emily Kassa, Sacred Heart, Hallettsville. Awards were presented by Texas House Representative Lois Kolkhorst, District 13.
