Goliad Volunteer Fire Department firefighters drive through the remnants of a grassfire to ensure it is completely extinguished in Weesatche on a property off of Highway 119 just south of the Goliad and DeWitt county line on Saturday. Goliad VFD Fire Chief Alonzo Morales said between 75 to 100 acres burned. The cause is believed to be embers from a controlled brushfire the land owner's son had started the night before. In total, seven Volunteer Fire Departments responded to put out the fire which was extinguished within an hour.
