Residents of the Cimarron subdivision were greeted with a rather unusual sight Wednesday morning. This pair of red-shouldered hawks were spotted on a fence at Cimarron and Montezuma streets. The birds were identified with a little help from the folks at the Texas Zoo and an online source at birdinginformation.com. Hawks migrate from Mexico to Texas, California and Florida, but normally around April. They perch high in a tree so they can swoop down on their prey of mice or small birds.
