Colonial Dames of the 17th Century members gave a program on Colonial Cooking residents of the Texan Nursing and Rehab of Victoria East on March 26. Images of cast iron pots in the fireplace, churning butter, drawing water from a well and colorful pictures of vegetables from the garden evoked memories and lively discussion among the group. Vintage utensils were reminders of the past as residents shared about their family's version of cooking and food. The program concluded with a reading of rules for children's behavior at the table and an individual serving of a corn cake for each resident. Taking part in the program, from left, are Esther Jimenez, activities director, and Colonial Dames Jean Shores, Sharron Torrence and Kate Williams.
