Tyler Vickers, of Tyler, holds a geode he estimated to be around 40 million years old moments after cracking it open at the Gem and Mineral Show at the Victoria Community Center. Geodes are formed by lava bubbles that solidify and build pressure over time, which slowly forms the colored crystals inside them.
