  • AltonEaston you must not read our Presidents plans very often sir the job market job right now ,as little as it is, is searching for manual labor such as road construction. He has shaped jobs in repairing highways and make roads and what not, so manual labor such as that is in effect...

  • I contend that it is not the responsibility of the school/education system to prevent dropouts.

Rating schools based upon drops outs is like rating someone leading a horse to water and it drinking water.

The reasons I contend that private schools are more successful than public schools is from day one--if you don't want to learn or be here, we don't want you and will not be your parents babysitter.

It is a tough world we live in. In the global competitive economy, being employed is moving into a direction of not how much you can lift or how fast you can do something, but how efficient you are in research/development/problem solution of complex buildings, machines, medicines, communications, and etc.
Manual labor will become a thing of the past according to most futurologist.

  • Folks its 2 categories, imo. One for AYP and one for dropouts, where 1 category is economically disadvantaged students.

Either way the system is flawed. VISD identified the kids and now want to appeal thier own errors. Now JH kids caused it for AYP. Move numbers around. Who is accoutable?? The system is broke and the public has lost confidence. Ask.

    Time to clean house!

  • VISD unacceptable rating says alot. Why do we have only two high schools for a town this size. Why did we build two new junior high campuses and remodeled a third but left the oldest school building in victoria (Patti Welder MIDDLE SCHOOL)untouched??? Makes a lot of sense...
